Sheko and Mezenger People's Democratic Unity Organization

The People's Democratic Unity Organization of the Sheko and Mezenger ( Amharic የሸኮና መዠንገር ህዝቦች ዴሞክራሲያዊ ግንባር Yeh - Saeko - ənna Mäžängär Həzbočč Demokrasiyawi Gənbar, German. ' Democratic Front of Peoples Sheko and Majangir ', English Sheko and Mezenger People's Democratic Unity Organization, abbreviation SMPDUO ) is a political party in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples region ( YeDebub ), a region in Ethiopia.

In the last elections to the national Ethiopian People's House of Representatives on 15 May 2005, the party Kassahun Jarka Ziyatu chose as the representative of the district of zone Bench Maji in the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Region. This was 0.3 % of the votes and was thus able to move as one of the 547 deputies in parliament.

In the regional elections in August 2005, the SMPDUO received only one seat in the regional parliament of YeDebub region. In the national elections in 2008, the SMPDUO won 7 seats in a Kebele in the Woreda Yeki and thus gained control of this local government unit.

History

The SMPDUO was founded in 2000 on the instructions of the ruling coalition 's Revolutionary Democratic Front Ethiopian Peoples ( EPRDF ) founded, which had hoped, within the local political environment three existing woredas - the Godere Special Woreda within the Gambela region and the woredas Sheko and Yeki from the southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples region - to unite to form a new ethnic zone.
