Shemp Howard

Shemp Howard (born Samuel Horwitz, born March 4, 1895 in Brooklyn, New York City; † November 22, 1955 in Hollywood, California ) was temporarily a member of the comedy troupe The Three Stooges. After his retirement his brother Curly Howard came into force. After Curly suffered a debilitating stroke in 1946 and then never could work more than Stooge, Shemp took back his old place in the trio. He stayed with the Stooges until his own death in 1955. Shemp was one of five brothers of the parents Jennie and Solomon Horwitz.
