Shepherd's Bush tube station

Shepherd 's Bush is an underground station of the London Underground in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. It is located in the Travelcard Zone 2 at the eastern end of the park Shepherd's Bush Green Shepherd's Bush district. In 2011, 21.59 million passengers used the area served by the Central Line station.

History

Was opened the station on 30 July 1900. Initially, it was the western terminus of the Central London Railway (CLR ), the predecessor of the Central Line. As usual with the CLR, the station building was designed by Harry Bell Measures. North of the station were the power station of the railway company and the custodian at the Wood Lane, which was connected by a single-track tunnel with the track. In order to develop the exhibition area of the Franco - British Exhibition at Wood Lane, extended to the route there and built for this purpose, a loop around the depot around. This extension was on 14 May 1908 in operation.

As part of the New Works Programme of the London Passenger Transport Board was installed 1935-1940 escalators to replace the original lifts. 1938 was added to extend the platforms to the use of trains with eight instead of the current to allow seven cars. As part of the urban development project Westfield London, the station was completely rebuilt. It originated improved interchanges to the bus lines and just east of the new Shepherd's Bush railway station on the West London Line. The station Shepherd's Bush was closed from February 2 to October 5, 2008 to replace the 80-year escalators and replace the old station building with a new building.
