The Transdniestrian State Taras Shevchenko University (Russian Приднестровский государственный университет имени Тараса Шевченко ) is a university in the Transdniestrian capital Tiraspol. It operates stores in Bendery and Rybnitsa.

History

The University's history dates back to 1930, when today's university was founded as an educational institution. 1939 the Institute was named after the Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko. When Transnistria in 1990 seceded from Moldova, the State - productivity Corporate University of Pridnestrovie region was founded in Tiraspol. In 1992, this university was merged with the former Pedagogical Institute Tiraspol and it formed the current Transnistrian State Taras Shevchenko University. 2010 celebrated the University its 80th anniversary.
