Shigeru Aburaya

Shigeru Aburaya (Japanese油 谷 繁, Aburaya Shigeru, born February 8, 1977 in Nagato, Yamaguchi Prefecture) is a Japanese long- distance runner who specializes in the marathon distance.

Career

Making its debut at the Lake Biwa Marathon in 2000, he finished in 2:10:48 h seventh. The following year he improved at the same place in a personal best of 2:07:52 hours in third place. As the best Japanese in the overall standings he also secured the national championship in the marathon.

At the World Athletics Championships 2001 in Edmonton Aburaya finished in 2:14:07 h in fifth place. In 2003 he was at the Tokyo International Women's Marathon in 2:09:30 hours in second. In the same year he reached at the World Athletics Championships in Paris / Saint- Denis in 2:09:26 h again in fifth place. Also on the fifth place in 2:13:11 ran Aburaya h marathon 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.

In 2006 he reached the London Marathon in 2:14:49 h the 13th Place. At the Fukuoka Marathon in 2007, he was fifth ( 2:10:30 h) and 2008 Tenth ( 2:13:48 h).

Shigeru Aburaya is 1,63 m tall and has a competition weight of 51 kg. He starts for the company team of utility Chugoku Denryoku.
