Shigeru Tonomura

Tonomura Shigeru (Japanese Schriftstellerpseudonym :外 村 繁bourgeois :外 村 茂; born December 23, 1902 in Kondō, Gokasho, Kanzaki -gun (now Gokasho - Kondō -chō, Higashiomi ), Shiga Prefecture, † July 28, 1961 ) was a Japanese writer.

Life

His parents were followers of the Buddhist sect Jōdo Shinshu. He graduated from the University of Tokyo Faculty of Economics and then took over the family business as a cotton wholesalers. Tonomuras birth and residence in Gokasho is now a museum that shows the life of merchants in the province Ōmi ( forerunner of Shiga Prefecture).

1956 receives Tonomura for Ikada the 9th Noma Literary Prize, 1960 for Miotsukushi the 12th Yomiuri Prize. Tonomura is an important representative of the Japanese I - novel (私 小说, shishosetsu ).
