Shikine-jima

Shikine Jima (Japanese式 根 岛) is a volcanic island in the Pacific Ocean. It belongs geographically to the Izu Islands and administratively to the village of Niijima Tokyo Prefecture.

Geography

Shikine -jima is located in the Pacific Ocean south of Sagami Bay, south-east of the Izu Peninsula.

The island has an area of 3.70 km ². The highest mountain is the Kampiki (神 引 山, -yama ) with 98.5 m, but the northwest of the island rises up to 109 m altitude.

Fauna and Flora

Shikine -jima is located as part of the archipelago in the Fuji -Hakone -Izu National Park.
