Shimoji-shima

Shimoji -jima (Japanese下地 岛) is the neighboring island of Irabu -jima. It belongs to the Miyako Islands and is located in the prefecture of Okinawa (Japan).

Geography

Shimoji -jima has an area of 9.54 km ² and is relatively flat, with the cliffs in the west are up to 21.6 m high.

Shimoji -jima is separated from the neighboring island of Irabu -jima by a river -like crack and connected by six with this.

On it is the airport Shimoji -shima. Administratively, the island belongs to the municipality of the district of Irabu, Miyakojima.
