Shimon Dzigan
Shimen Dzigan (* 1905 in Łódź, Russian Empire, † April 14, 1980 in Tel Aviv) was a Polish actor of the Yiddish theater and film.
Life
Dzigan was born the son of a Russian soldier. At the outbreak of the First World War, he came to help in the household of a tailor. In 1927 he came to the literary cabaret Ararat in Łódź and later in the same Yiddish theater. He became famous with his play partner Israel Shumacher as comedy duo " Dzigan and Shumacher ". Dzigan played in the interwar period in three Yiddish films. In the attack of the German army invaded Poland Dzigan Shumacher and fled to the Soviet-occupied Białystok. They stepped in Moscow, Leningrad, Minsk and other cities before one ahsen in a Stalinist gulag. From there, both fled to Israel, where they had a long television career.
