Shin Terai

Shin Terai is a Japanese musician and producer from the environment by Bill Laswell. On his albums he combines Ambient and Electronic music with Dub and avant-garde jazz.

Career

First became famous for the actual percussionist and keyboardist in 1994 as the singer initiated by Bill Laswell and Robert Musso project Chaos Face. Another singer on the single album Doom Ride was Mick Harris, former drummer for Napalm Death. A private album called Unison put Shin Terai until 1999. It involved here with Laswell on bass, keyboardist Bernie Worrell and also of the guitarists Buckethead and Nicky Skopelitis. 2004 Bill Laswell developed from the material of the recording sessions, the remix album Heaven & Hell. Meanwhile, Shin Terai was producer of Soup, a trio of Laswell, guitarist Otomo Yoshihide, and drummer and trumpeter Yasuhiro Yoshigaki.

On the Light Years, published in 2007 Laswell, Worrell and Buckethead were represented again. Further guest contributions came from Nils Petter Molvaer (trumpet ), Lili Hayden (violin ), Karl Berger ( arrangements of string instruments), DXT ( turntables ) and Laswell wife Gigi. In addition, the babbling of the small Aman Laswell to hear (son of Gigi and Bill), to whom he dedicated the album.
