Shinahota

Shinahota is a small town in the Cochabamba Department in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

Shinahota is the most populous city in the province Tiraque and central location of the newly created in 2009 Municipio Shinahota. The village is located in the far north of the province at an altitude of 267 m on the eastern shore of the Río Vinchuta before its confluence with the Rio Chapare.

Geography

Shinahota is located in the Bolivian lowlands on the northeastern edge of the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Oriental in the Bolivian Yungas.

By Cochabamba leads the 1657 km long highway Ruta 4, which begins in the far west to the Chilean border at Tambo Quemado and cross via the Altiplano and Cochabamba to Villa Tunari at the foot of the Cordillera. From Villa Tunari is 22 miles to Shinahota and another ten kilometers to the neighboring town Chimoré. The Ruta 4 then continues up to the lowland city of Santa Cruz and eventually ends up in the southeast part of the country on the border with Brazil in the city of Puerto Quijarro.
