Shire of Cloncurry
- 20.7140.5Koordinaten: 20 ° 42 ' S, 140 ° 30' E The Shire of Cloncurry is a Local Government Area ( LGA) in the Australian state of Queensland. The area is 47,983 km ² and has about 3200 inhabitants.
Geography
The Shire is located in the northeast of the state about 1480 km north- west of the capital Brisbane.
Largest city and administrative headquarters of the LGA is the town of Cloncurry with about 2400 inhabitants. Other towns are Dajarra, Duchess, Four Ways, Kuridala, Selwyn and Three Rivers.
History
Shire and is named after the main town of Cloncurry River, which was named by the explorer Robert O'Hara Burke Australia after his cousin Lady Elizabeth Cloncurry. In the 60s of the 19th century, the city grew as a mining town and in 1884 to its own county.
Management
The Cloncurry Shire Council has five members. The Mayor ( mayor) and four other Councillor shall be elected by all residents of the Shire. The LGA is not divided into electoral districts.
