Shiribeshi Subprefecture
Shiribeshi (Japanese后 志 総 合 振兴 局, Shiribeshi - sogo - Shinko - kyoku ) is a sub-prefecture in the prefecture of Hokkaido. It has an area of 4305.65 km ² and a population of 256 184 (as of July 31, 2004).
History
The sub-prefecture Shiribeshi (后 志 支 庁, Shiribeshi - shicho ) was written in 1910 from the merger of the sub-prefectures Otaru (小樽 支 庁, Otaru shicho ) Iwanai (岩 内 支 庁, Iwanai- shicho ) Suttsu (寿 都 支 庁, Suttsu - shicho ) and parts of Muroran.
In the reorganization of Hokkaidō April 1, 2010 it was renamed Shiribeshi - sogo - Shinko - kyoku.
