Shiv Charan Mathur

Shiv Charan Mathur ( born February 14, 1926 in Madhi - Kanungo, † 25 June, 2009 New Delhi ) was an Indian politician of the Indian National Congress.

Mathur came from a village near Bhilwara. The " Quit India " movement in 1942 politicized him. During his student days in the late 1940s he was Secretary General of Rajasthan Students Congress. He graduated with a diploma in workers' welfare. After working in local politics in Bhilwara, he became in 1964 a member of the 3rd Lok Sabha (Lower House of the Indian Parliament ). From 1967 to Mathur was a member of the regional parliament of Rajasthan ( Rajasthan State Legislative Assembly ) for seven legislative sessions. Between 1967 and 1977, Mathur served as minister in the governments of Mohan Lal Sukhadia and Harideo Joshi. Shiv Charan Mathur was chief minister of the state of Rajasthan from 1981 to 1985 and from 1988 until 1989. He was elected to the 10th Lok Sabha in 1991, went to the five years, however, again as a member of the Rajasthan State Legislative Assembly in regional policy and was the chairman and a member of various parliamentary committees and committees. 2008 Mathur was appointed governor of Assam. He died in office of a heart attack.
