Shizuoka Prefecture

The Shizuoka Prefecture (Japanese静冈 県, Shizuoka-ken ) is a prefecture of Japan. It is located in the Chūbu region on the island of Honshu. Seat of the prefectural government is the city of Shizuoka.

Governor of Shizuoka 's second term Heita Kawakatsu, who in the election in July 2009 with the support of the then opposition National Democratic Party (DPJ ) defeated the center-right candidate Yukiko Sakamoto scarce.
