A short work is a Polish film directed by Krzysztof Kieślowski from the year 1981.

Action

The film tells a documentary feature film the events of the labor unrest of 1976 in the Polish city of Radom. In the center of the action is the First Secretary of the Polish United Workers Party Woiwodschaftsleitung, the responsibility for the conduct of the party was in Radom in 1976 and 1981 to take account of Solidarność his former behavior before a tribunal of the free trade union. In flashbacks, the film tells after the former story, which culminates in a storm of workers on the building of the Woiwodschaftsleitung the PZPR. The First Secretary had holed up here and was determined to go down as a captain with the sinking ship.

Background

The film was banned after the completion of the censorship. After the turn Kieślowski saw no more sense in a screening of the film, and so it was only in 1996 after the death Kieślowski for the first performance on Polish television. The film was also subsequently invited to several film festivals and as a tribute to Kieslowski shown (eg at the Berlinale ). For these reasons, the film is one of the little-known works by the Polish master director, however, is a striking example of the combination of documentary style Kieślowski and the feature film. However, as a politically engaged work she stands in contrast to the deep psychologically later films Kieślowski.
