Shortlist

Shortlist (english shortlist, from short = short and list = list) means a list of shortlisted about a contest that by shortening a long list ( eng. longlist, from long = long, list = list) has emerged. The Duden defined longlist as "first, more options list [ for a contest ] is taken from the then a shortlist ( shortlisted ) ".

The shortlist is a result of a selection process that identifies the short list of candidates who like compiling for a job, an award, academic appointment, o, which consists of a first pre-selection or longer list ( long list, so " long list " ) from all the candidate or candidates has to be determined. These terms are used as anglicisms now also in German, are listed in the dictionary and used for example in the selection of the German Book Prize.
