Shu, Jambyl
Schu ( Шұ Kazakh, Russian Чу / Chu ) is a city in southern Kazakhstan.
Geographical Location
The city is located on the eponymous river training 265 km northeast of the regional capital Taras area Zhambyl.
Population
Schu has 42 486 inhabitants (2009 ).
History
The municipal rights were granted in 1960.
Economy and infrastructure
The city lies on the turkestanisch - Siberian railway line and is an important point because here the Turksib with the route to Karaganda is connected. The railway maintenance operation is the main employer in the town.
