Si Phan Don

Si Phan Don (Lao: ສີ ພັນ ດອນ ) is an area in southern Laos (Si Phan = four thousand, Don = island).

The Mekong River is in southern Laos near the border with Cambodia, about 14 kilometers wide. It should be located about 4000 islands in the area. Just before the border with Cambodia is the Mekong cases, the largest waterfall in Southeast Asia.

During the French colonization of a railway line ran in Si Phan Don to drive around the Mekong waterfall and create a continuous transportation facility from south to north Indochina. Even today, remnants to visit it.

Also, around 50 remaining Irrawaddy dolphin pairs are still to be found.
