Loxosceles reclusa

  • Sicarius Walckenaer, 1847

The Sicariidae family includes 122 species of spiders in only two genera Loxosceles and Sicarius with 101 species, with 21 species. The family was and is still partially understood as Loxoscelidae, but now seen as Sicariidae.

System

Sicarius species are found in South America, South and West Africa and on the Galapagos Islands ( Sicarius utriformis ( Butler, 1877) ) spread. According to the company Arachnologischen the cosmopolitan Sicarius rufescens ( Dofuor, 1820 ) in the Netherlands has so far been found in greenhouses and the like, but otherwise not yet been proven in Europe.

Loxosceles is distributed throughout the Americas and Africa, few species are widespread in the Holarctic. Loxosceles was considered by Jörg Wunderlich as a separate family ( Loxoscelidae ).
