Sidney Blackmer

Sidney Blackmer ( born July 13, 1895 in Salisbury, North Carolina; † October 5, 1973 in New York City ) was an American actor.

Life

Sidney Blackmer first studied law and then decided to become an actor's training. In 1917, he appeared on numerous stages. His film career began after the introduction of sound film. In the early years, he was frequently cast in villain roles to be seen in character roles (eg in Little Caesar, directed by Mervyn LeRoy ), in the later years he was also common. His starring role on the stage and in film was the U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt, whom he portrayed ten times. Overall, he has appeared in about 175 films and TV productions, most recently in 1971.

In 1960 Blackmer a star on the Walk of Fame. He was honored by the Kansas City Film Critics Circle for his role in Rosemary's Baby for Best Supporting Actor in 1968.
