They come from Agarthi was a television series on ARD. It was produced in 1974, in May 1975 14 episodes in the evening program of the ARD were sent. These were one of the first German "Mystery " TV series. This genre was particularly as a television series up to that point in the German-speaking world largely unknown and established itself until much later.

Action

In the center of the story is the newly married couple Pete and Sandra Bittner. Sandra suddenly starts with a monotone voice in a trance first to speak unintelligible sentences. It turns out that she is in telepathic contact with a culture that, as she says, comes from Agarthi. It should be a mysterious, underground country in the Himalayas. Once this contact has been added, suddenly a professor from Bond ( fictional) U.S. intelligence ATIC appears, to learn about the phenomenon. Also, the Soviet secret shows interest and sends the agent Leontev. In later episodes appears a mysterious Prince Taitanuk who claims to be in contact with Agarthi and to act on its behalf. In the course of the series the actors feel to clarify the phenomenon after and try to who is behind the contact and whether Agarthi actually exists. Besides, numerous risky and sometimes kinky adventure must be passed.

Broadcast

Each about 25 minutes long episodes were sent in quick succession in May 1975. The first episode was aired on May 9, the 14 May 30.

Production

The series was produced on behalf of the West German television advertising. Presumably there were more than 14 episodes, since the act with the last broadcast episode ( # 14 ) breaks apparently. Participants relevant Internet forums reported their demands in television had shown the tapes and documents to the series are missing, such as here or here.

Background

The series refers to the mythological place Agartha, which is the subject of much speculation and conspiracy theories. It is a cinematic reception of the theory of the hollow earth.

The time to the creation of the series still current East-West conflict is reflected in the agent Prof. Bond and Leontev as well as in the occurrence of other mysterious people and organizations. There seem to be due to global implications and machinations that are not known to the public. In addition, the presence of extraterrestrials is indicated.
