History

The mill stream was created artificially for the most part. The exact age is unknown, he was first mentioned in the 12th century. The Abbey Michael Berg included all five mills on the trench ( grist mill, fulling mill, Lohmühle, paper mill and oil mill). Only the grist mill was in the Middle Ages within the city walls. All other mills were in before this.

In addition to the mills was the Mühlengraben also for the people of importance. You could draw here the victory water and wash clothes. He also served as the 15th century as a transport route for the nearby quarries to the Wolsbergen until the early 19th century, these stones and other loads were transported to the Mill Race.

1839/40 was located at the upper part of the mill trench, a factory ( calico ), the time required for their production much water. To bypass the dispute over the water, the owner bought all the mills until 1865. 1914, the factory was closed and the victory went to the plant succession. The mills were then sold in 1924 to a cooperative. From 1906 to 1928 there was a bathhouse on the mill stream.

In 1993, the only building was renovated from the mill history of the town of Siegburg ( the grist mill ). The mill-wheel in 1877 has also been restored and should now serve to generate electricity. Because of its strong running noise the waterwheel but was again taken out of service.
