The SIG P220 is a semi-automatic pistol, which uses the recoil energy for recharging. The locking is based on the Browning - Petter system. The weapon has a double-action trigger, two-stage trigger and an automatic firing pin safety. The Swiss army used it since 1975 under the name Pist 75 or 75 pistol as a service pistol in caliber 9 mm Parabellum. The Swiss Guard is equipped with the weapon.
