Signage

A sign ( neuter, plural signs ) is a character in the form of a panel, board, plate, or other support, such as a piece of paper, small card or sheet, which is provided with an inscription or a pictogram. In its contemporary version, the sign also occurs in electrical form on the overhead projector or in electronic form on screens or LED screens.

The signage is for information, documentation, or as a signal.

Etymology

The word is linguistically derived from the word of the sign, which refers to a flat, portable protection weapon that is optionally provided with heraldic signs. The word is, however, mainly in the contrast and attested in this form since the 15th century.
