Sigöldulón

Sigöldulón is an artificial lake in Iceland. He will (formerly Krókalón ) also called Krókslón and is located in the south of the country not far from Landmannalaugar and just south of the dam Þórisvatn in the municipality of Rangárþing Ytra.

Its surface area measures 14 km ².

The river flowed through here Tungnaá a tuff Wall called Sigalda, which was at 600 m altitude. They built an up to 40 m high dam in the upper part of the canyon and dammed the river.

Meanwhile, it has the water diverted so that it flows through tubes that belong to the power plant Sigalda that exists since 1973. It includes three 50 MW turbine units.
