Siguiri Prefecture

Siguiri is a prefecture in the Kankan Region of Guinea with about 243,000 inhabitants. Like all Guinean Prefectures it is after its capital, Siguiri named.

The prefecture is located in the east of the country, bordering Mali and covers an area of ​​19,750 km ². This Siguiri is the largest area of ​​Guinea Prefecture.

The Niger flows through Siguiri to Mali on. There's gold deposits, which are mined, but the miners are also considered a risk factor for the spread of HIV and AIDS in the region.
