Sihlcity
Sihlcity is a major development on the site of the former "Zurich paper mill on the river Sihl " in Zurich - Wiedikon.
The resultant on the site Urban Entertainment Centre was opened on 22 March 2007 and is the first of its kind in Switzerland. It covers approximately 100,000 sqm area with services such as restaurants, shopping mall, multiplex cinema, entertainment, Fitness/Wellness- and health areas, a nightclub, hotel, chapel with pastoral supply, service spaces and 16 apartments.
Project and realization
The total contractor Karl Steiner AG developed together with the architect Theo Hotz office Sihlcity the project and sold it in 2003 to an investor group - today's joint ownership Sihlcity.
From 1 July 2003 until the opening on 22 March 2007 was built on Sihlcity, with a number of construction could not be completed until after the official opening or - have attracted to July 2007 - as in the case of the Pestalozzi Library. The investment volume amounts to approximately 620 million Swiss francs. The estimated rental income of approximately 40 million Swiss francs per year. Sihlcity is managed by Credit Suisse subsidiary Wincasa.
Use
In the Sihlcity there next twelve catering establishments and 77 retail stores (primarily from the clothing industry) a Four Points by Arabella Sheraton hotel with 132 rooms, a cultural center, a fitness and wellness center, a medical center, a library, a cinema with nine rooms, offices and 16 city apartments as well as the ecumenical and inter-religious powered open Sihlcity church with chapel and chaplains offer.
The self- designating as the biggest club of Zurich disco club platinum had to close at the end of August 2008 due to outstanding rent payments. The club was previously repeatedly hit the headlines because of financial problems and various acts of violence.

Traffic
Car
Thanks to the motorway junction Zurich - Brunaupark (A3 Basel -Sargans ), and the Uetliberg ( Zurich western bypass ) Sihlcity is directly accessible via motorway. Due to the projected increase in traffic through the new shopping center in the Traffic Club of Switzerland (VCS ) had raised objections to the construction project. Public transportation
