Sikart

SIKART ( in own spelling SIKART ), with the subtitle lexicon and database art in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein, is a biographical dictionary of visual artists who are Switzerland and Liechtenstein joined by nationality or prolonged activity.

The database of the Swiss Institute for Art Research (SIK -ISEA ) created contains information about 16,000 artists, 1,500 detailed biographical articles, 12,000 plant images, 89,000 bibliographic entries, 61,000 entries and 11,000 exhibition awards and prizes.

1991 published SIK-ISEA his first completely computer based on the production Publication: Switzerland ( KVS ) Artist directory. For this project, the two-volume Biographical Dictionary of Swiss art ( BLSK ), which was published in 1998 developed. Since 2006 is the SIKART online database available to the public and is constantly being expanded and updated. Today it is used, among others, the University Library of Berne and Zurich Central Library.
