Production and representation
Silver perchlorate can be obtained by the reaction of silver (I ) oxide and perchloric acid.
Properties
Silver perchlorate is a very hygroscopic, colorless, slightly light- sensitive solid. Silver perchlorate is oxidizing and forms with reducing agents, such as metals, sulfur, sugar and hydrazines explosive and high explosive mixtures.
It is readily soluble both in water and in organic solvents such as benzene, toluene and nitromethane.
Use
Silver perchlorate is used among other things as co-initiator in the cationic graft copolymerization.
