Silver phosphate (specifically silver orthophosphate ) is an inorganic chemical compound. It is next to Silberpyrophosphat Ag4P2O7 ( CAS: 13465-97-9 ) and Silbermetaphosphat AgPO3 ( CAS: 13465-96-8 ) is one of the phosphates of silver.
Production and representation
Silver phosphate can be obtained by the reaction of potassium phosphate with silver nitrate.
Properties
Silver phosphate is a yellow solid, which is very poorly soluble in water and gradually turns black light. Ag3PO4 has a cubic crystal structure in the space group P43n with the lattice parameters a = 603 pm and two formula units per unit cell. At 520 ° C, the transition occurs in an equally high temperature cubic modification that crystallizes isotypic with γ - Na3PO4.
Use
Silver phosphate is used in photographic emulsions and in pharmaceuticals.
