Silver Road

The 140 km long scenic route Silver Street is the first and longest of its kind in Saxony. Given the importance of mining for the Saxon history, the road connects the landmarks and tourist offers that are related to the centuries- old mining and metallurgy in the Ore Mountains and the Ore Mountains foreland. Since 2012 it is marketed as the Saxon and Bohemian Silver Street, with the extension of Annaberg- Buchholz to Ostrov, from the Erzgebirge Tourism eV.

Background

The Ore was particularly marked over 800 years of sustainable mining and to start from the silver mining industry, whose support industries and trades. Course

Beginning in Zwickau leads the silver road over the mountain town of Schneeberg, the cities Aue, Black Mountain, the mountain towns of Annaberg -Buchholz, Ehrenfriedersdorf, Wolkenstein, Marienberg, Lengefeld, Sidon, fire -Erbisdorf to Freiberg and from here, about Tharandt and Freital, further into the Saxon capital of Dresden. From Annaberg -Buchholz, there is a turnoff to Ostrov in Bohemia.

The course coincides largely with the line management of the national highways 93, 169, 101, 171 and 173 and State Road 194 south south-east of Zwickau it performs the same town of Silver Street.
