Simão Mate Junior

Simão Mate Junior ( born July 23, 1988 in Inhaca ), known as Simão, is a Mozambican footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder as well as in central defense.

Simão began his football career at Ferroviário Maputo in Mozambique, where he played until 2007. In August 2007, Simão completed a trial with Greek club Panathinaikos Athens tradition and those responsible could convince them to take him under contract.

At his first competitive game for Panathinaikos use Simão came on 20 September 2007, during the UEFA Cup encounter at Artmedia Bratislava, which won 2-1 in Athens. His first try in the Greek Super League had Simão in the 1-0 away win against Iraklis Thessaloniki on December 9, 2007.

On 13 August 2008 Simão scored his first goal in a European Cup match. In the third qualifying round for the UEFA Champions League he scored the 2-1 for Panathinaikos in the Away match against Sparta Prague in the 60th minute.
