Simion Stanciu

Simion Stanciu, pseudonym: Syrinx, ( born December 23, 1949 in Bucharest, † July 6, 2010 in Geneva) was a Romanian pan flute player and composer who lived in Switzerland and worked.

Simion Stanciu was born into a family of musicians. His father was a cellist, his brothers are also musicians. He studied at the Conservatory in Bucharest, first violin, but devoted himself at the age of 14 years reinforces the play of the pan flute. Due to his training in classical music, he was able to tap the instrument, which had previously only played a role in the folklore of different countries and in the light music, a new repertoire.
