Simon Fraser, 15th Lord Lovat

Simon Christopher Joseph Fraser, 25th MacShimidh, 15th Lord Lovat, 4th Baron Lovat DSO MC TD ( born July 9, 1911 in Beaufort Castle, Inverness, † March 16, 1995 in Beauly, Inverness- shire ) was a Scottish General and commando leader in World War II. He was 25th Chief of Clan Fraser, also of the 4th Baron Lovat in the Peerage of the United Kingdom.

After service in the Scots Guards and the Lovat Scouts, founded by his father, he enlisted in the Commandos. In 1941 he participated in the successful commando operations against the Lofoten, 1942 Lossy Operation Jubilee against Dieppe.

In early 1944, was commander of the newly-formed Lovat 1st Special Service Brigade. Its enduring popularity is due to the fact that he led his troops during the invasion of Normandy in 1944 personally to the bagpipe sounds Piper Bill Millin of his into battle.
