Simon Ntamwana

Simon Ntamwana ( born June 3, 1946 in Mukenke, Burundi ) is Archbishop of Gitega.

Life

The Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, Cardinal Agnelo Rossi, ordained him a priest on 24 March 1974. John Paul II appointed him on 14 November 1988 Bishop of Bujumbura.

He received his episcopal consecration of the Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops and President of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America, Cardinal Bernardin Gantin, on 5 February of the next year; Co-consecrators were the Ntuyahaga Michel, Former Bishop of Bujumbura, and Roger Mpungu, Bishop of Muyinga.

The Pope appointed him on 24 January 1997 as Archbishop of Gitega.
