Simon Wigg

Simon Wigg (* October 15, 1960 in Aylesbury, England; † 15 November 2000) was a British track athletes. He was successful in both the Speedway as well as long or grass runways. His biggest single success in the Speedway was the second place at the World Championships in 1989 in Munich behind Hans Nielsen. In 1989 he was also captain of the British Speedway team that brought the world title in this.

Even more successful than in Speedway, he was, however, on longer paths. He has won five times the title at the Long Track World Championship.

In 2000 he died of a brain tumor. Numerous prominent track athletes such as Sam Ermolenko, Gerd crack and Kelvin Tatum, attended his funeral.
