Simona Halep
Simona Halep ( born September 27, 1991 Constanţa ) is a Romanian tennis player.

Career
At the age of four years Simona Halep started playing tennis. They first preferred clay courts, because there they achieved better results at the beginning of their careers; now she prefers to play on hard court.
2008
In June she won the junior tournament the French Open with a final victory over her compatriot Elena Bogdan ( 6:4, 6:73, 6:2 ).
2010
In the WTA tournament in Fes, she reached the final, which they lost to Iveta Benešová 4:6, 2:6. At the French Open she qualified for the first time for the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament. She was defeated in round one of the later finalist Samantha Stosur with 5:7 and 1:6.
2011
At the Australian Open, she reached for the first time the third round of a Grand Slam tournament, as they set the Alissa Kleibanowa 6:4, 7:62 defeated in round two. In the second round she lost to Agnieszka Radwańska in two straight sets.
Due to a stomach muscle further successes were then made only once. However, their final appearance of 2010 in Fes she could confirm. After victories among other things, Nastassja Jakimawa and Greta Arn she lost the final of the Italian Alberta Brianti 4:6 and 3:6.
At the Grand Slam tournament in Wimbledon Halep impressed with their second-round match against the long-standing world number one Serena Williams, against whom they retired at the end of 6:3, 2:6, 1:6.
In her hometown of Bucharest, she succeeded with a hard-fought victory over her compatriot Alexandra Cadantu the semi-finals of the local ITF tournament in which they Laura Pous Tió was beaten 0:6, 3:6 itself.
On the U.S. hard court tour she controlled, started as a qualifier in the first round of the Rogers Cup in Toronto Svetlana Kuznetsova in three sets. It was their first victory over a top 20 player. In round two she dropped against Lucie Šafářová with 2:6, 4:6. Nevertheless, they made it into the top 50 in the world rankings.
At the U.S. Open she was 2011 in the first round despite an ankle problem against Li Na surprisingly the first victory ( 6-2, 7-5 ) celebrate against a top ten player. In round two she had to after several injury breaks Carla Suárez 6:3, 2:6, 2:6 beaten. In the 2011 season, it improved by nearly 40 world ranking places and finished the year ranked 47th
2013
On June 15, Halep won in Nuremberg her first individual title on the WTA Tour. In the final, she defeated Andrea Petkovic 6-3 6-3. A week later she won the Topshelf Open in 's- Hertogenbosch. Followed yet within a month at the WTA tournament in Budapest Single Track number three. Only six weeks later, she landed the fourth title win in hard court tournament in New Haven; in the semifinals, she defeated the world rankings Eighth Caroline Wozniacki 6-2, 7-5 in the final and Petra Kvitová ( WTA 9) in two straight sets.
At the U.S. Open she reached the second round for the first time in her career, in which she defeated Flavia Pennetta in straight sets. Eight weeks after New Haven, she won another WTA tournament when she defeated in straight sets in the final of Moscow Samantha Stosur. Just two weeks later, she won with another victory over Stosur also the WTA Tournament of Champions, Sofia. In its sixth title in four and a half months Halep improved to # 11 in the world rankings.
2014
In Melbourne, she stood for a smooth two- set victory over Jelena Jankovic for the first time in the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam tournament, she lost to the later finalist Dominika Cibulkova 3:6, 0:6. In Doha she continued her run away: Kaia Kanepi and Annika Beck after they defeated the three top ten players Sara Errani, Agnieszka Radwańska and Angelique Kerber in two sets. They thus won her seventh WTA title in eight months and reached on 17 March 2014, with the 5-position their highest-ever world ranking placement.
