SIMPLE algorithm

The SIMPLE algorithm (Semi -implicit Method for Pressure Linked Equations ) is used in computational fluid dynamics for solving the Navier -Stokes equations with unknown pressure field.

The basic idea is based on the SIMPLE is to estimate the unknown pressure field to calculate the velocity fields and thus to determine with the help of the continuity equation, a pressure correction and then a speed correction. This procedure is repeated until the continuity equation is satisfied within the specified accuracy.

A modified version of the SIMPLER algorithm ( SIMPLE Revised ), which was presented in 1979 by Patankar.
