Símun Samuelsen (2013 )

Símun Eiler Samuelsen (born 21 May 1985) is a Faroese football player at the position of attacking midfielder. He plays for HB Tórshavn and the Faroese national team.

Clubs

Samuelsen began his career with VB Vágur in the first division. His first game in the highest Faroese league he gave on 13 Round 2-0 home victory against HB Tórshavn when he came on in the 83rd minute. In his second season he was mainly used for the second team. There, he scored the third matchday of the league in the second game against NSÍ Runavík II also his first competitive goal in a 1-0 victory.

In 2003 he moved to GÍ Gøta, where he held the loyalty of one year. Here, he also denied the first time in the Cup games and reached GÍ the final, which was lost 1:3 against B36 Tórshavn. In the first division, he was one of the regulars there and reached the seventh place. In 2004 he returned to VB Vágur and remained until 2005. This year he left home and moved to Keflavík ÍF in the Pepsideild. With the fourth place in the championship is Keflavík ÍF could qualify for the Intertoto Cup. The following year, again managed a fourth place in the league with a 2-0 victory in the cup final against KR Reykjavík, the club qualified for the UEFA Cup.

2007 left the offensive player Keflavik and was loaned for six months to Notodden FK in the Adecco Ligaen. There he played in the second highest Norwegian league, before he returned to Keflavik 2008 and 2008 with the team was able to win the runner-up title. 2009 occupied Keflavík ÍF in the league in sixth place and thus failed to qualify for an international competition. At the end of the year Samuelsen was elected by the club player of the year. Nevertheless, he returned early 2010 on the Faroe back and plays since for HB Tórshavn. At the start of the season he won with HB Faroese Supercup with a 2-1 win over the Cup Winners Víkingur Gøta. In qualifying for the UEFA Champions League 2010/11 he scored his goal for the 1-0 win in the return match against FC Red Bull Salzburg after the first leg was lost with 0:5. In his first season with the new club, he was immediately put in the championship together with Fróði Benjaminsen and Andrew av Fløtum. Due to a foot injury he fell from the end of season.

European Cup

So far Samuelsen came 17 times in European games used. He made his debut in 2003 for GÍ Gøta in the first round of the Intertoto Cup in the first leg against FC Dacia Chişinău, which was lost with 1:4. Also the return game lost GÍ 0-1 and was eliminated from hence. In the game for Keflavík ÍF against the German representative 1 FSV Mainz 05 on 11 August 2005 in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Cup 2005/ 06 Samuelsen played through, but could not prevent the 0-2 defeat in Frankfurt am Main. His first goal succeeded him in 2006 for Keflavik in the first round of the Intertoto Cup in a 4-1 home win against Dungannon Swifts for the 1-0 lead. After a 0-0 draw in the second leg of the club reached the second round and met Lillestrøm SK, against Keflavík with 1:4 and 2:2 retired. 2007/ 08 he scored in the first qualifying round against FC Midtjylland 3-2 winning goal, after the 1:2 in the second leg Keflavík difference, however, again. 2010/11 achieved Samuelsen in the service of HB Tórshavn in the second leg of the second qualifying round of the Champions League against Red Bull Salzburg goal in a 1-0 victory. Due to the 0:5 first leg result, however, played Salzburg in the next round.

National

International Samuelsen plays since 2003 for the national team of the Faroe Islands. He made his debut together with Atli Danielsen, Jann Ingi Petersen and Jónhard Frederiksberg on April 27, 2003 in a 3-2 friendly win against Kazakhstan in Tórshavn, he was with the score at 3-1 Jákup á Borg after 61 minutes loaded. His first international goal he was able to record on 8 October 2005 against Israel in Tel Aviv in qualifying for the 2006 World Cup, he scored the 1:2 draw.
