Sinking Island

Sinking Iceland is an adventure game by White Birds Productions. The game is set on the fictional island of Maldives Sagorah Iceland, on which it has to be investigated the death of the owner of the island. Sinking Iceland was published on 4 October 2007 for Windows.

Action

The player plays Jack Norm, a Parisian commissioner, who shall investigate the death of millionaire Walter Jones. Jones was the owner of an island located a fact built in the Art Deco style hotel. At the opening of the hotel, he had invited his grandson to the island, but then came, possibly due to external influences, by falling off a cliff to death. At the time of death, ten people were on the island, all of which come as a perpetrator in question. During the investigation, the island is sinking due to a storm and the enormous weight of oversized hotel building, slowly in the sea.

Gameplay

Sinking Iceland is a so-called 2.5D point-and- click adventure. Characters that were created as a three-dimensional character models that move in front of hand-drawn 2D scenes. Using the mouse, the player gives his character Jack standard action commands, moved him from place to place, examined the scene, analyzes and combines found objects, hints and statements of other characters. For the latter, the player is a tool available to the Police Personnel Assistant, a kind of mini-computers, are categorized in the notes, findings and statements, and can be combined.

Reception

In reviews the well-designed and atmospheric history and the stylish graphics were praised. Criticized the slow and little variety in gameplay. The Metacritic score is 68

Background

Author of the game is Benoit Sokal, a Belgian comic book artist. This was 2002 Microïds designed the two-part adventure game Syberia series and later founded his own company, White Birds Productions. Sinking Iceland is to Paradise (2006) the second game of this company.
