Sint Odiliënberg

Sint Odiliënberg is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg and belongs to the municipality Roerdalen. The place was one of 3,576 inhabitants in 2006.

Geography

The village is located about five kilometers west of its confluence with the Meuse at Roermond directly on the Rur.

History

Attractions

  • At the core of the 11th century, the two are on a hill on the outskirts of standing places of worship, a twin-towered Romanesque basilica dedicated to St. Wiro, Plechelmus and Otgerus and the small Onze Lieve Vrouwekapel.
  • A Windmill ( Molen van Verbeek ) dates back to 1883.

Museums

  • The Roerstreekmuseum below the basilica displays archaeological finds and local history aspects.
