Sipa Press

Sipa Press is a French picture agency based in Paris and New York. It was founded in 1973 by the Turkish press photographers Göksin Sipahioğlu, together with the American journalist Phyllis Springer. The agency specialized from the outset in reportage photography.

Sipa Press is the French market leader in today's photojournalism. The agency distributes daily up to 6,000 photos in over 40 countries in the areas of politics, business, entertainment and sports. The Agency enjoys today among photojournalists and press organs high reputation.

The editorial includes 91 permanent employees and about 600 correspondents worldwide (as of 2010 ). Sipa Press has established partnerships with the Associated Press, Rex Features in the UK and La Presse in Italy. In New York there is the Sipa Inc. as a subsidiary that manages the distribution and production in the American market.

In July 2011, Sipa Press was acquired by the DAPD news agency, CEO since February 2012 Olivier Mégean.
