SIPA S.90

The SIPA S.90 was a light sports and touring aircraft of the French manufacturer Société Industrielle Pour l' Aéronautique.

History and construction

The SIPA S.90 was designed by Yves Gardan for Société Industrielle Pour l' Aéronautique ( SIPA ), on the occasion of a competition the French Government, developed for a light sport aircraft that should be used by the French Aero Club. The prototype first flew on 15 May 1947. The design won the competition. The aircraft was designed as a low-wing monoplane with fixed spur -wheel drive and two seats juxtaposed. The first four machines were powered by a 75 hp (56 kW) Mathis G4F engine.

One hundred copies were ordered by the French government for the Aero Club. This was driven by the 75 hp (56 kW) Minie 4DC engine and were referred to as SIPA S.901. The first of these aircraft provided holding her maiden flight on 25 June 1948. Various motors have been installed later in S.901, resulting in new model number. Later, nine aircraft were with plywood, full of the usual fabric covering, planked.

  • S.901: 100 pieces with a 56 kW Minie 4DC -32 engine. Most were later converted to other engines
  • S.902: S.901 with a 63 kW Continental C85 - 12F engine
  • S.903: S.901 with a 67 kW Continental C90- 14F engine
  • S.904: S.901 with a 56 kW Salmson 5AQ -01 engine
  • P.91: 2 S.902 beplanktem with plywood fuselage and wings
  • P.92: 1 p.91 beplanktem with plywood fuselage and wings, with a 63 kW Mathis 4GB -62 engine
  • P.93: 1 p.91 beplanktem with plywood fuselage and wings, with a 56 kW Salmson 5AQ -01 engine
  • P.94: 5 p.91 beplanktem with plywood fuselage and wings, with a 67 kW Continental C90 -8F engine
