Sipaliwini River

The Sipaliwini is a river in south-west of Suriname, in the same district Sipaliwini. He is a right tributary of the Coeroeni.
Headwaters
It rises in the Sipaliwini savanna on the border with Brazil. The Sipaliwini Savannah is part of the Sipaliwini Nature Reserve.
River course
West flowing nimmte the Sipaliwini from right to Koeini, Apiego and the Wioemikreek on. Approximately 20 km west of the village Kwamalasamutu it flows into the Coeroeni River.
Special
The Sipaliwini is characterized by rocky ground and through many small waterfalls. Its name comes from the Arawak language: sipa means "stone " and wini "water", "river".
