Sir Elwoodin hiljaiset värit

Sir Elwoodin Hiljaiset värit ( literal translation: Sir Elwood silent colors) is a jazz, pop and rock group from Kannelmäki on the outskirts of Helsinki.

Musical

Your style, the group referred to themselves as kellarijatsi or keskiolutjatsi ( approximately basement jazz jazz or beer ), their pieces follow in structure and melody but also popular pop and rock schemes. The instrumentation is often extensive, with many wind instruments and aligned strong acoustically. The lyrics deal mostly everyday topics such as love, goodbye, life in the suburbs, or aging, or give descriptive scenic impressions and snapshots. Similarly, the music and the lyrics are often lined with a slight melancholy.

Some of her more famous pieces are thematically retained cover versions of international songs ( " Älä ITKE " - German for "Do not cry " - is Do not Cry No Tears Neil Young, Kaduilla Kallion - " In the streets of Kallio " - In The Neighbourhood by Tom Waits ), the majority of the songs, however, are original compositions. The band has not yet revealed whether the name has a deeper background, and if so, which one. Outside Finland, the Finnish singing group has released any albums yet.

Band History

The band was formed when in 1988 Juha Lehti and Juha Saaresaho who met while working in the Myyrmäki youth center in the north of Helsinki, began to take their first demo cassette together with Pete Loikala. After initially only local notoriety, the band landed their first major success in 1993 with the single Viimeisellä rannalla. From now on, reached plates and singles regularly the top 20 of the Finnish charts. The greatest successes compilation Varjoja, varkaita yes vanhoja valokuvia and the album reached gold status Kymmenen tikkua laudalla, the highest chart position an album was previously No. 2 (1999, for Pyhää kamaa. )

On 13 June 2004, died Riku Järvinen, bassist and violinist of the group, in an accident. Initial plans to dissolve the band thereafter, however, were laid aside, when they met Järvinens friend doll Luomanmäki at a memorial concert for Järvinen and this joined him for the band. Thus were already produced by the second greatest hits disc first with Suomineito a new single, and later a new album to be released.
