Sitatapatra

Sitatapatra ( Tib: gdugs dkar mo ( Dükar / Dukar ); German: White screen ) is a peaceful, female yidam of Tibetan Buddhism.

Sitatapatra Aparajita

Sitatapatra Aparajita is a emanierter from Vairocana Buddha aspect ( yidam ), which is particularly revered in Mongolia. As Aparajita occurs Sitatapatra also as an independent aspect to Buddha, who are either in the center of a mandala, or may belong to a mandala of another aspect of Buddha. As with Ushnishavijaya (Goddess of long life ) to Buddha Shakyamuni ( Ushnisha ) have aired from his crown of hair.

Ushnisha Sitatapatra is a thousand-headed appearance of white Tara. Through its main attribute, the umbrella, you realize that they belong to Avalokiteshvara.

Effect

The meditation on Sitatapatra serves primarily to protect from all dangers and anxieties, especially from diseases, natural disasters, enemies and demons ( rakshasa, asura ). According to tradition, it can also prevent premature death. Sitatapatra is considered as a powerful patron goddess for travelers, as their shield can protect against all kinds of obstacles and negative events. It is also said that it has a protective effect on couple relationships.

The mantra Sitatapatras is, as is usual in Vajrayana, passed only by a lama by averaging or initiation. In Tibetan Buddhism, only mantra of Buddha aspects of the Lotus family without initiation or authorization be freely distributed. Therefore mantras are usually called only when the ritual initiations and practiced with them.

Representation

Sitatapatra is shown with white body color and either one -, three-, four - or tausendköpfig ( multi-colored). It stands in the Alidhastellung ( in the lunge to the left) and has a thousand arms. In the first right hand she holds the mudra of granting protection, a Dharma, in the left a shield on a long pole.

In a rarer form of her sitting appears in the " bodhisattva posture " (half -lotus ), or ' vajra posture " ( lotus position ) on a lotus with one or three heads, two, six or eight arms and two legs.
