Sithathoriunet

Sithathoriunet, also Sit- Hathor - IUNET or satellite Hathor iUnit, actually Sathuthoriunet, was an ancient Egyptian princess of the 12th Dynasty ( Middle Kingdom ), whose grave was found in Al- Lahun near the pyramid of Sesostris II.

Assignments

Because of the relevance to Sesostris II is believed that she was the daughter of this ruler, although this is not proven. Jewels in her grave also mention the name of Amenemhat III. , Which is why it can be assumed that they lived up to his reign.

Grave system

Sihathoriunet assumed particular importance because in their grave chamber during excavations by the British School of Archaeology under the direction Flinders Petrie in 1914 found a niche that had been overlooked by grave robbers. It contained numerous first class jewelry in various chests.

The pieces include, among others, two pectoral, a golden crown, various necklaces and bracelets. The jewelry found here is one of the most outstanding artistic works from ancient Egypt.

The wood of the chests was passed in locating the grave a long time, but they could be in part based on deposits, which adorned it reconstructed.
