Six-line wrasse

Six stripe wrasse ( Pseudocheilinus hexataenia )

The six- stripe wrasse ( Pseudocheilinus hexataenia ) lives widespread in the Indo-Pacific, on outer reefs, very hidden between stony corals. The up to 6 cm large animals live individually, in pairs or in harem groups with one male and several females.

Six stripe wrasse eat small invertebrates, which they detect in small crevices and caves.

Aquarium maintenance

The Sechsstreifenlippfisch is a popular foster child for saltwater aquariums. Because of its size it can also be good in small tanks hold. Copies may be aggressive towards other aquarium inhabitants. Observations have shown that this behavior is discontinued or reduced if the fish is kept as a couple or group. The aquarium should be covered or at least have a glass walkway on the edge, as the slightly livelier animals tend to jump out of the pool.

The Sechsstreifenlippfisch takes easily to dry food, supplemented its food but also by small invertebrates that come with the live rock in the aquarium.
