Six pack rings

Six carriers, six pack or Sechsertragerl (Austrian Vorarlberg without ) is a term for a six - pack of multi beverage cans or bottles, which is held together by cardboard or polyethylene.

Description

Six substrate of glass bottles have in Germany almost always a package made of cardboard. The polyethylene fittings are the classic variant as even today, for example, in the U.S., for cans is typical. In Germany, mainly cardboard was used since around 2002 and replaced gradually by shrink film.

With the introduction of deposit on drinks cans on 1 January 2003, this form of container disappeared temporarily in Germany, because the doses shipments declined so far that this additional packaging costs no longer counted for the beverage manufacturer.

After the cans market recovered slowly, and the multi-packs came partially back into the supermarket shelves. As a leader has to be mentioned especially the Coca-Cola company here that the advance ventured in 2009 with a 5 1 free action pack and since its success regularly different, mostly action Multipacks (eg 6 2 free ) on brings to market, but also separated again offering regular six-packs.

The first use of six carriers led the Coca-Cola company, headed by their former manager Robert W. Woodruff. Woodruff's stated goal that Coca -Cola must never be more than an arms length away, was addressed in the 1920s, when in 1923 Coca -Cola invented the six-party carrier. This was with the invention of the refrigerator more popular as you Coca-Cola was able to take in larger quantities to take home for the first time. Already in 1928 more Cola was sold in bottles than in the soda bars.

Sizes

The so-called six-pack is the classic version of the multipacks in the beverage packaging of three pieces (2 × 3) are arranged in two rows. There is also a variant of the triangular mark Perlquell in which the assembly is according to (1 2 3). There were and are still some more Abpackungsgrößen such as:

  • 3 ( 1 × 3 )
  • 4- (2 × 2)
  • 8- (2 × 4)
  • 9er (3 × 3)
  • 10 (2 x 5 ) so far only as a test as so-called Fridgepack for cans, from October 22, 2012 official launch ( Coca -Cola ) ( see also: accounts )
  • 12er (3 × 4)
  • 24er ( 4x6 )

Other container sizes ( for cans ) as of 12 (3 × 4), 18 mm (3 x 6) or 24 (4 × 6 ) hot trays. They are open or sealed with shrink film and serve as transport packaging, not retail packages, so they are not to be regarded as multi-packs in the true sense.

A new concept of the six-pack offers to the company Schoeller Arca Systems for PET bottles. It is the so-called bottle carriers, in which the bottles are clipped beneath the neck ring. The Bottle- Carrier replaces both cardboard as well as shrink film. When it is returned with the empty cylinder, it can be recycled. Currently, some beverage manufacturers use (eg Gerolsteiner ) the bottle- carriers.

Colloquially the six carrier is also called riot case, Mr. handbag, men handbag, Randaliererpäckchen, six round-bottomed flask or mason radio.

Hazards

The polyethylene rings of six carriers can be dangerous for animals. Especially seabirds caught in the plastic parts and die by suffocation or starvation. After corresponding press reports in the late 1980s, many states introduced legislation calling for a better degradability of the plastic used.
